News programmes aim to broadcast/publish newly received or noteworthy information, particularly about recent events, and claim to be the most unbiased source. There are many different ways that news programmes try to promote their impartiality, and these can primarily be found during their opening sequences. Ownership concepts Public Service Broadcasting - often referred to as PSB, this refers to broadcasting intended for public benefit. OFCOM requirements state that certain television/radio broadcasters such as the BBC fulfill parts of the requirements as part of their licence. The BBC was the first public service broadcaster in the UK. Commercial Broadcasting - also called private broadcasting, this is the broadcasting of programmes by a privately owned corporate media. Commercial broadcasting is based upon the airing of advertisements for profit, and channels such as ITV and Channel 4 do this.  Corporate and Private Ownership - corporate ownership is the shared ownership of a product by two or more corporations. It is considerably complex as although an individual or company may own all the shares, they are not personally responsible for it. DepicT! Video Textual Analysis

For this task, we were assigned groups and had to create a 90 minute short film. We settled upon the idea of a group of friends talking, but one seems to be an outcast (made obvious by always being on the end of or slightly behind the rest of the group, no-one looks at him or speaks to him) and doesn't speak throughout the entire conversation, until upon reflection the group begin to discuss an incident that occurred a few months prior. At this point he tells one of the group that it wasn't his fault, and as his friends stand up and walk away, he remains and begins to fade. Using this effect made it apparent to the audience that he was a ghost, and this subconsciously causes the viewer to realise that he was the friend that was killed in the accident.
